Quick and Foolproof Fake Tanning Routine

A fake tan doesn't have to be obvious and orange; you can get a lovely healthy glow in a few easy steps and without needing to bake in the sun!

I'm not a fan of my natural tone... I look deathly.. Seriously!!

When I was younger I did dabble in a bit of sunbed usage, but I'm all about protecting and preserving my skin now. So fake tan it is!

My everyday go-to body tanner is Dove Summer Glow (isn't is everyone's?). It's now known as Derma Spa Summer Revived and has fancy new packaging, but it's essentially the same product except I don't think it has any shimmer in the new version.

I love this product because..

- You can get it in two shades
- It dries fairly quickly
- I've never had any mistakes as it blends so easily
- It doesn't smell too horrific (no getting rid of that biscuity after scent)
- It's fairly cheap (RRP £6.99) and often on offer
- You can build up your desired shade

I apply this to my chest, neck and arms all year round. I blend it down my arms with E45's Hydrate and Protect to give a natural finish. I don't see the point of tanning my tummy and legs in the winter..

But when I do dare to bare my legs I use it everywhere.

If I fancy a darker colour I use Xen Tan Luminous Gold Gel.

And here's why I love it..

- It dries (pretty much) instantaneously
- It smells beautiful compared to other self tanners
- It has tiny little bits of shimmer so makes you look healthier straight away

One quick note... It may not be that great for drier skin types as it's a gel product. If you have got dry skin Xen Tan's Deep Bronze Luxe or Moroccan Tan may be a better option.

Every other day I use Xen Tan Face Tanner. It has loads of lovely ingredients that help to make your skin look better; when I wake up the morning after using it, my skin looks clearer and smoother! It's one of the only fake tans I've used on my face that doesn't clog my pores.

Recently I've also discovered another little gem in the face tanning department - Hylamide Glow Booster. I've started using this everyday before my moisturiser and I love the glow it gives my skin. It doesn't smell particularly great, but that dissapears quickly after application. Throughout the day it develops and gives such a healthy, natural radiance to your skin.

If I have a bit more time on my hands, I like to give my face a bit of definition using Xen-Tan Dark Lotion.

I take a little pea sized amount and using a flat top kabuki brush (such as the Sigma F80), I contour my cheek bones, temples and jaw line. I then blend a lot to make sure I don't have any weird lines when I wake up! Doing this means I can get away with wearing a lot less makeup.
