Living with the Mess & Chaos | Mummy Life

I'm quite an organised person who loves a clean and tidy house! But as James has gotten older and more and more on the move...I've had to let go a lot.

I was a bit obsessed at first with constantly cleaning and making things neat. I thought that if people came round and the place looked messy, I'd look like a crappy mum! Being at home to look after your children should surely mean you have all the time in the world to make the place look like a show-home! HA! What an idiot I was.

Mess seems to come as part of the package when you have children. In fact, making a mess and destroying the house is probably one of James' favourite things to do. Give him a box to pull all of the contents out of and you've got a very happy little boy.

I can't tell you the amount of times he's pulled everything out from my bedside table drawers or emptied the laundry basket onto the floor. It's all exploration to him and he enjoys it so I just think 'sod it, let him go for it'. (It's also sometimes a lot easier to get things done when you just let them get on with it - so long as it's safe, of course!)

I usually share carefully edited versions of our home where there's no mess...I like my photos to look pretty, so obviously I crop out all the crap!'s some of the cropped out crap!

The sock and fridge magnet that have been abandoned on the kitchen floor.

The dishes piling up in the kitchen.

The toys cluttering up our living room.

Life with a baby isn't picture perfect, it's messy and chaotic.

And, there's a good chance that by the end of most days you're covered in snot, sick, food....maybe some poop if you're lucky!
