Hair Care Update: Shampoo and Conditioner

This would be a massive post if I included every single hair product I use, so I've separated it into categories, starting with shampoo and conditioner.

I change up the products I use on a week to week basis as if I use something consistently for too long my hair can look a bit dull, so I do have quite a big stash.

I've got three different shampoos on the go at the minute, which may seem excessive but my hormones play havoc with my skin and leave my scalp quite sensitive and irritated. T-gel Shampoo for Sensitive Scalp is a nice gentle shampoo that helps to soothe my scalp back to a happy state, but it does make my hair feel a bit heavy and it needs washing quicker when using this.

Oilatum Scalp Treatment Shampoo is something I've only just started using again as you're not supposed to use anything containing salicylic acid when pregnant and some advise against while breastfeeding as well. Although I am still breastfeeding I don't feel that once in a while it can do any harm as I doubt any even passes through to my bloodstream. I watched a video by Caroline Hirons which was a collaboration with Ruth Crilly talking all about beauty products while pregnant that really put my mind at rest. If you're interested here's the link. Anyhow, I've gotten quite off track. This shampoo is great as the salicylic acid exfoliates the scalp and gets rid of dead skin cells. I think it may now be called Intensive Anti-Dandruff Shampoo.

The last shampoo is John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo. I bought this when going on holiday to Turkey as it's supposed to be lightweight, add texture and increase manageability and shine. I expected this to be a lot more cleansing than it is, whereas I find it's quite moisturising, perhaps a tad heavy even. I think I was hoping for it to be in some way similar to Lush's Rehab, which is my all time favourite shampoo, but unfortunately it's not. Rehab leaves your hair feeling perfectly clean but not hideously dried out!

On to conditioner... I only have two as I mainly use treatments on my hair after washing it. Lush American Cream smells amazing and this is the main reason I will continue to repurchase. On the website it says it smells like strawberries and cream - I can mainly smell vanilla...but oh it is just scrumptious!! In terms of conditioning it's fairly light so doesn't help much with tangles, but still leaves my hair feeling nice and soft. I love using this after Rehab.

Finally, Lee Stafford Bleach Blonde Conditioner which contains lilac tones to help get rid of brassiness. I'm not sold on the scent but it does tone down my hair without turning it purple, unlike the shampoo in the range.

What shampoo and conditioner are you currently using?
